Dr. Krishnamoorthy Vivekananthan (Kris Vivek) is an Interventional Cardiologist

Appointment

He graduated from Madras Medical College, University of Madras, Chennai, India. He completed post-graduated training in Internal Medicine at the same institution. He subsequently went to United Kingdom where he furthered his training in Internal Medicine and obtained board certification with the Royal College of Physicians, London.

Then he underwent training in cardiology under renowned cardiologists in United Kingdom. On his move to the United States he completed Internal Medicine residency training at the State University of New York at Buffalo (Program A).

Following this he underwent fellowship training in Cardiovascular disease at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana.

He was appointed as the Chief Cardiology fellow during his training. On completion of the fellowship he was appointed as a faculty in the department of cardiology at Ochsner Clinic. As a faculty he was involved in patient care, research and training of cardiology fellows.

Following his tenure as faculty he joined the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas as a fellow in Interventional cardiology to obtain advance training in coronary and peripheral vascular intervention Prior to moving to Houston in 2006 he was an interventional cardiologist with the largest private cardiology group in Louisiana (The Cardiovascular Institute of the South – world renowned for peripheral vascular interventions). Since moving to Houston he practices at Northwest Houston.

Dr. Vivek specializes in coronary/peripheral vascular intervention, pacemaker implantation and non-invasive imaging (echocardiography, vascular imaging, nuclear imaging and cardiovascular computerized tomography).

Dr. Vivek has served as chairman of the department of cardiology at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Houston Northwest Medical Center and Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center. In addition, Dr Vivek was a member of the Board of Trustees at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and served as President of the medical staff (Chief of Staff) at this institution. He had been and currently involved in several multicenter trials as primary and sub investigator.

Dr. Vivek always strives to provide quality, compassionate, comprehensive and best care to his patients.

To his credit, he has many publications in leading journals.
